| HELP!! How can I make a model like this?? |

My friend made this model trough HOUDINI and I try to make it in MAYA… However, I tried some traditional ways like deformer or blend shape but still cant get the same result as my friend did… Has anyone done anything like this before and please give me some hint… THANKS
