I only do 3D modeling occasionally, so a lot of it is still pretty arcane to me. I’m working on a model that has presented some issues to me that I’m not sure about the best way to tackle. I’ve attached a picture of the character that I’m doing. The blockhead is what I have left to do. My question is how do I pull off the jack o’ lantern mouth? I’m also curious about doing the eyes, I imagine I’ll hafta use some boolean tricks to do it, but it’s the mouth that I’m most concerned about. I basically want the head to be bisected by the jagged mouth into two pieces (top & bottom). The head will jiggle around so that the teeth clatter against each other. What is the best way to go about this? Thanks!

modelling the teeth - try using the cut faces tool, it’ll split right through the mesh.
make 2 horizontal tines (following the blue line), then multiple vertical lines to arrange the teeth (red line). to the seperate off the jaw, select the line band of poly faces you created from the 2 horizontal line, delete them, then separate them using mesh -> separate (polygons menu).
for thickness, use extrude.
the eyes, you could play with the split polys tool, but if character is meant to e rigged after, i’d advise against booleans, (if you still insist on using them, be mindful of rebuilding the edges and deleting the history etc).
