Hi, I m trying to create a , lets say , sphere with multiple holes from surface to the center.
We can do it using boolean subtraction , and for many holes , we can mesh/combine many pipes as one polygon and execute boolean subtraction.
This is a problem if you have a lot of pipe/holes to subtract and it will take days os processing on a IMAC PRO 8 Giga , etc.

Some one have different approach ?
Thanks,,,

The fastest way to do this would be to use Autocad, but if I wanted to do this in Maya I would use Nurbs.  I would write a script to create all of my pipes.  The only reason for the script is I would rather change a few lines in my script rather than having recreate the model each time to get it right.

You might want to try using Hair (no dynamics) as guide lines to extrude you pipes.  Just a thought.

displacement or normal maps , that way you can control the density by repeating the tiled map.

Hi RROCHS,
Good idea to use Hair, it works well.

I think that we need more tools/scripts to help us in this symetrical procedures in Maya.

Best,
