Hi. I’m new to this and this is probably a simple obvious problem - I hope.

I’ve followed the mirroring tutorial instructions (Maya 2011 Helmet Poly Modeling exercise) but the image isn’t mirroring. Nothing happens. Not even a error notice. Any ideas what I have done wrong?

Please detail what steps you’ve done, and where it’s not working…

Sorry - should have done that.

I’ve snapped the vertices to the y axis, And then changed the mesh to object. Selected Mesh > Mirror Geometry Options and, set them to
Mirror Direction: -X
Merge with original: On
Merge vertices: On
and then clicked on mirror. And nothing happens…

I’m so dumb...I just did it again...and now it works when i pre select the mesh....so simple.....

but I do have another problem.....some of my faces are missing....they come and go as I do different steps....The ones that i’m missing right now are the extruded ones I did to bridge two meshes (that wouldn’t bridge with the bridging tool) and the ploy faces that I made to create the face shield using the Append to Polygon Tool...They were there when i made the shield and they disappear when I did other steps after....
