Hi,

I’m experiencing some odd behaviour from the Move tool. Hitting ‘b’ toggled the soft-select mode, which was initially working fine.

Now though, tapping ‘b’ doesn’t go into the soft-select mode, but activates the fall-off radius adjust mechanism, ie, dragging the mouse adjusts the fall-off radius. Here’s the frustrating bit, I’m unable to get out this mode! Doesn’t matter which tool I select, dragging the mouse keeps adjusting the radius. The only way to exit this is to restart Maya.

I’ve tried resetting the preferences (by removing the maya folder under MyDocuments), but problem still persists.

Odd problem.
Are you sure that when you hit Q it doesn’t activate the select tool?
Or usually you can with no problem activate the select tool by clicking on its icon.

Hi Carcio, thanks for replying. Hitting ‘q’ didn’t activate the select tool, nor exit the current tool. Didn’t matter which icon I clicked, the drag kept adjusting the radius.

I managed to fix the problem though. I opened up the Hotkey editor, deleted the assocations for the ‘b’ key. I then hit the ‘Restore Defaults’ button to reset all hotkeys. Everything’s back to normal now.. just need to reconfigure all my hotkeys. Sob.

Wow.. didn’t even occur to me. Yeah, I think Shave and a Haircut was installed on all our systems just a few days back. Do you know if there’s a fix?

not that we could find, I believe we submitted the bug to Joe Alter, but not sure if any fix has been made, it might be worth yourselves sending one to.

I cant check atm but a couple of fixes might be to disable the plugin or even remapping the soft-select short-cut yourselves (the problem seems to be that Shave shares the short-cut).

I’ll have a word at work for any better ideas/suggestions

Wow, this was driving me insane. I thought there was some Maya workflow issue I didn’t understand. I have Shave installed, too.
