Hi
I’m a new Maya user, have been a long time Max user.  Greatly appreciate your help in making the transition.
When I select an object, one of my viewports is “dead” meaning that the selected object does not turn green in that viewport only, but all the other are fine. This is in 4 view. Changing to a new view, ie perspective or a camera view does not help. I tried resetting the prefs file, and that did not help.
I’ve done something to break this functionality.
Any ideas how to reset something so that my dead viewport will show selected objects?

thanks

Thomas

In the viewport “Show” menu, the last option is “selection highlighting”. I would believe from your symptoms that checkbox is unchecked in that viewport.

Maya will remember the window settings you have if that option in preferences is checked. Those settings can be loaded in from a scene, (a different option), and then may be saved on exit.

that did it! thank you, you ROCK!
it actually was checked, but checking and unchecking reset it.

If other people see this, please post about it here as well.
I’m wondering about the seeing it checked and having to uncheck and check it aspect.

Also, did it persist over multiple closings and re-starting?

And, we are talking about 2011 here right?
please let us know if otherwise.

yes have the same trouble with the viewport filter.
seems that after re-opening your file everything is marked as checked even if i just can see my polys. thats a bit confusing sometimes and one of the really stupid little bugs because its something that worked well in older versions.

So, you save the file with the viewport set to only show your polys and when you restart maya and open that scene, you’re in this state?  Or you just force file new and re-open?  Or you double-click the file to open?

Can people also post which version of Maya, including which hotfix you are running.  I’d like to see if I can reproduce this using your instructions.
