Hello,

I’ve been working on a poly model of a female figure with no issues. My hard drive crashed so I had to reinstall my entire system. Once I got Maya 8.5 PLE reloaded (with the correct drivers) my model started having this strange artifact. It isn’t there at first but when I zoom in with the dolly tool it appears. I can affect it by making some layers invisible. When I do, some but not all of the artifact disappears. After about 5 minute it sometimes disappears only to reappear again. I’ve gone back to older files but eventually they all get this corruption. The artifact disappears when viewed with the default material and it’s shape mimics the poly mesh.

Does anyone know what this is or how to fix it? I’d really like to avoid going through the texture phase again if possible.

The computer is a Windows 7, XP dual boot. Maya is running on XP SP3, core i7 920 quad core processor, 3 gigs ddr3 RAM, ATI FireGL v5600 workstation card.

Perhaps when you reinstalled your system you used a different graphics driver (maybe newer)? Some versions on some cards just do not work correctly. Perhaps you can try using an older driver and see if it changes the issue.

I reinstalled the same video card drivers as before so I don’t think that’s the issue. I also removed and reinstalled Maya several times but it didn’t work. I’ve resigned myself to re-texturing the model.

Thanks.
