I am having problems when trying to edit isoparms and control vertexes on NURBS. It will not allow me to edit the isoparms at all and I can only edit one half of a NURB at a time with the control vertexes instead of being able to edit them individually.

I am using Maya 2010

Insert Isoparm.

On the other hand, you can “sort-of” edit isoparms by moving the CVs around them.  CVs hover above the intersections of the U and V isoparms, and are arranged in rank and file following the isoparms.  In component mode, select “Hulls”, and pick the hull that sits above the isoparm you want to edit.  When you transform that hull, the isoparm will move with it - but you aren’t really editing the isoparm.

I don’t understand your question about the CVs - you should be able to move CVs individually or in groups.  Can you be more specific?  If this seems like a technical anomaly, you should quit Maya, delete your prefs, and restart.

sorry - the entire answer did not post correctly ... here’s the full answer

Isoparms are typically not editable in NURBS objects - they are character lines that represent mathematical positions on a surface - just like you cannot move the equator on the earth.  You can insert new isoparms, however, or delete existing ones (be aware that you will affect the shape of an object if you delete an isoparm).  To insert an isoparm (lets say it’s on a sphere, and you want to put one just above the equator) select the equator isoparm and drag it to the position you want the new one to be.  You’ll see a yellow line, indicating the position.  Click on Edit Surfaces - Insert Isoparm.
