Hello and thanks in advance for any suggestions provided. I am using the student version of Maya 2011 on a Macbook Pro. This past week I had a UV texture assignment due. I followed the tutorials provided by the instructor to the letter but Maya is malfunctioning for some reason. I don’t understand why and my instructor can’t give me an answer either. The assignment was to create a UV layout of a characters head, import it into Photoshop, create the texture map, import it back into Maya and apply the newly created texture to the head. As stated before, I did everything the instructor says to do. However, when I try to apply the texture map to the head, the transparency channel in the attribute editor activates causing the head and map to appear transparent. To fix this, my instructor told me to right click on the geometry and choose Material Attributes > right click the word Transparency in the transparency channel > choose break connection. This fixes the problem but only to an extent. Now, the texture shows up but it is not placed correctly. There are no details, just color. When I look at the UV texture editor, my layout is now the background and there are the beginnings of another layout on top of that. How can I fix this? This is effecting my grade negatively because the instructor thinks that I didn’t create a layout even though I have sent him screenshots of my layout and the issue. I have reset and reinstalled Maya with no change. No matter how many times I try to apply the texture to the head, the transparency channel keeps activating and it’s not supposed to be doing that. I have included screen shots in case you don’t understand my explanation. I did this assignment multiple times so I included two different UV layouts. Again, thanks in advance for any input.
