Hi everyone this is my first post. I’m a computer animation student and I’ve ran into a weird issue while modeling a car for class.

Its difficult for me to explain so I’ve attached a video to portray my problem exactly. I’m trying to select edge loops to clean up my geometry but they don’t seem to want to select. I can’t figure out on my own what’s happening so I hope someone here knows and hopefully there’s an easy fix.

Thanks in advance!

im no modeller but i think it might be your vertex normals or edge hardness?
try softening them with soften edge in [Polygons] -> Normals -> Soften Edge

Thanks for your input. I tried both your suggestions. I’ve never used the tool before but I tried setting vertex normals as well as softening edge but neither really fixed the issue of the faces faceting all weird. Im welcome to any other ideas you may have.

Did you check your model for double geometry? or borderedges?
Depending on how you modeled this, there are many things that can be causing that look.
maybe your normals have some problems: Did you try setting normals to face, and then soften the edges?

I ran cleanup and its non-manifold geometry causing the pinching. I can’t figure out how to fix it without just deleting and retopologizing.

Does anyone know of a way to fix non-manifold geometry? I tried everything from merging verts, to adjusting normals. Starting from scratch seems like the only solution.
