I am trying to get a solidworks file into Maya. I have access to the raw solidworks file and an iges version. I have been able to import the iges file but then I get a lot of holes in between the surfaces that maya creates. I would like to be able to make the parts of the assembly one object in Maya whether it is polys or nurbs, and so that the tessellation matches up for texturing and rendering without and holes in the pieces of the assembly. I have seen a plugin that looks like I can import the raw solidworks file but if I don’t have to spend 100 on the plugin I will gladly use an alternate method. Is it better to bring the solidworks file into AutoCAD or inventor and then into Maya or Max?
Thanks
