Exporting with no references?

I’m trying to export selected stuff from a scene.
But maya keeps saving all references also even if nothing from references is selected!
so cmds.file(exportSelected = True) fails!
the only flag that seems to be correct is exportSelectedNoReference and it’s obsolete!

so, maya fail or my fail?
