How to access skinCluster in API?

Hi,

i’m new to developing for maya api. I’m making a command to save skin weights. syntax as folowing

saveWeights -file “filename” -skinCluster “name of cluster”;

now i’m trying to acces the skincluster in c++.

i use MFnSkinCluster to get the weight but where do i get the components form? how can i determin the input mesh for this cluster?

Have you checked out the examples devkit/plugins/exportSkinClusterDataCmd.cpp and exportJointClusterDataCmd.cpp ?

In addition , http://ewertb.soundlinker.com/api/api.025.htm , may give you a sense of how to use the MObject component argument .
