Hi,

I got an iMac and Maya 2012 for Mac. I wanted to ask if it is possible to do development (plugins etc.) on Mac OS ? Or should I use Visual Studio on Windows ?

Thanks

Hey darkKnight,

I’d say you have to.  If you have experience developing in Windows for Maya that will help as the real issue becomes porting the application.  I use X Code and actually am currently developing plugins for the MAC.  Its easy to say Visual Studio is easier to use if your coming from that IDE.  Its not that bad but can get tricky and frustrating, probably like any other environment.  Anyways, yes it can be done.  The devkit is installed along with the app.  I think most of my issues stem from my inexperience with the Mac Os to begin with, so if you know permissions ins and outs I think you should be fine.
