You need “Inset”? In the Extrude you may use Offset… with MMouse Botton...is very good… I’m using a lot.

I’d really like the ability to edit audio in the trax editor and export a .wav. Rather than having to go into an editing package, edit the audio then bring it back in. Only to find out its still not quite right and you still need to tweak it a bit more. This would also allow animators to experiment quickly with different audio edits

If it is done then i will be the most happiest instructor let me say
i need Joe alter shave and hair cut for maya permanently not as a plugin
so that we can also do production level of styling in hairs and fur
because mayas hair and fur is not upto mark and those orthodox way of styling is to long way to achieve the quality.

dear Jalo the Autodesk products are fighting with each other thats true one application is keep on improving and the rest is on the hold but what about the other applications which are existing out side the Autodesk

Think about Houdini , Vue ,Z-brush and Cinema 4d all these packages are offering wide range of tool sets which is the demand of Todays C.G artist

But what we can do I still believes in Maya and wants the Autodesk to keep the Application on the top of their Desk.

just one wish :

multithreaded pointConstraint ( for use on next-generation Intel CPUs ... imagine a “Rock Creek” CPU with 48cores and maya only uses “one” of them ??? multithreaded ... biggest wish !!! maybe having an attribute on each node , which will define , on which CPUcore the calculation should be done , then one could simply iterate through all nodes and set CPUcore+1 , KEEP IT SIMPLE ! )

hopefully there will be a CORE-re-write soon , maybe the QT-implementation ( re-Write of the GUI ) also leads the developer-team to re-Write the entire software , step-by-step ... maybe even , eliminating some of the bugs , from the past .

and yes ... i guess , the common displaying-problems , on e.g. 2 Displays , and flickering and freezes in the hypershade could be things , from the past .

..........OK , now it is 3 wishes - but anyway , have a nice day :D

I don’t have a mouse with 12 buttons for nothing…

Allow the option to edit mouse button bindings.

Also, spreadsheets are great for organizing data. Take a look at open office or ms excel...what better way is there to organize all 1800+ commands?

Adding filters would be a plus…

To clarify what I’m talking about, this is something of what I’d like the hotkey editor to look like as far as organization methods go: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AldqIx67ecP5dG1Oeld1dzB1cmpWeURtZnJGcm10WUE&hl=en

Also, add profiles (eg Modeling, Animation, Visual Effects, et cetera) that alter both the hotkeys and the UI, since not everyone is a jack of all trades.

All in all, add more ergonomics to Maya to help streamline workflows of all kinds.

I have invested so much in maya switching to another app like 3Ds Max would seem to be a waste of time and money.

However if they do upgrade max to a node based app, that would be something to consider, coz whatever theyr going to do they have to integrate same maya’s node based architecture and workflow into the new max, and maybe call it something like mayamax :D and get rid of the old packages once and for all.

Thomas Mann said everything about it back in 2004.

Seems like Maya developers are living under the rock if they don’t consider suggestions like that.

* Fast loading for a huge scene (Milliards-polygons)
* Add more shaders with MentalRay, CgFx
* Advanced lightning effects with mentalRay + volume lights
* Enhanced timeline with support of layer objects on the timeline + Easy creating keyframes
* Easy exporting animations into After Effects
