I wanted to post this in wishlist section, but I cant ?
when maintaining proprietary plugins one very useful thing is to keep .mll file on server so it is easy to install and replace. But at the same time it’s a pain since every maya instance that has it loaded need to shutdown. And I had cases when that was not enough and I need to restart the whole machine… (wtf)
One very easy fix for this would be to add option to copy .mll locally and load it from there. Maya can also keep a track when the file was last changed so file only needs to be copied again if it’s changed. So everybody are happy. I updated the plugin and user can keep working with their versions of plugin until they close maya or the plugin crashes :D
