Just a thought!
shouldn’t Autodesk try to make maya faster with dynamics overall?
It´s pathetic really…
To use dynamics properly you´ll have to invest in an expensive renderfarm or server is this how it´s gonna be? Cant Autodesk take some of softimage dynamics now when they own the market? Or is just Autodesk eager to make more money instead of making ONE great produkt? Instead of selling 10 diffrent 3D platforms shouldent the at least make maya reliabel for once?
well its not really a copy/paste process to take stuff from softimage, soft has a more modern core and architecture, its 99% fully multithreaded and ICE is bound to the core itself.
Technically i think it would require years (if it will ever be possible anyway) to integrate ICE into maya, but i remember some AD guy sayin time ago that it was nearly impossible since is like orange and apples, ICE is written for Softimage core wich is totally different from Maya.
they would have to write a similar tech for maya itself and this would require to rewrite maya from the ground up.
Maybe Autodesk could enlight us about this, i might have said something wrong, but i think Maya at the current status is kinda oldie (without offense), just sayin i dont see them rewrite maya soon, and it starts showing its age, especially in workflow and doing many tasks.
I’m tryin to move away from it because i waste so much time into doing stuff that is insane.
Lets hope for the better.

Hi,
a way to tell maya the range values on colors of textures whould be nice…
for example…
You add a White and black image to control the glossines of a metal material… And i dont get the desired effect… So instead of changing the intecity of the actual image i can control the range of value.
For example, if my results are not the best… i can change the White values to another number..
Instead of White being 1, i can change White to “.3” and so on. So when Maya reads that particular Image, the Whites will have a value of “.3"… and i dont need to go back to photoShop to change it.
This whould make texturing Glossiness, Transparency, Bump an so on much more faster… because, if the intencity in the IMAGE is wrong, one can adjust it the way its needed.
If this was hard to understand i may make a PS representation to show up.

feature requests are one thing but requesting features that are already there since years shows only ignorance....
f.e. you can use the color balance features of the file texture and if that doesnt give you the desired results insert a color remap. still not enough control? you also have utilities like remap hsv, remap value or set range....

Re-write maya to be multi-threaded and to take better advantage of our systems. Speed up the qt ui, motif was ugly but it worked.
A full procedural dynamics system with decent fracture and RBD solver, Maya currently lacks an RBD as the one already in Maya is awful. Integrate something like bullet and fracture.
