Hello,
I am an performing artist and examining the possibilities of motionbuilder
on stage. And yes they are amazing. But help and specific case studies for the performing artist community are hard to find, I hope in this forum will share his
knowledge for solving this specific problem; so here is my question, please help…
I am using the midi device with a relation constraint to move
an Ik_handle around. The midi device is receiving midi from a
synth. The midi device receives note On and sends the value to
an number operator checking if the result == received value, if so
send a boolean 1 for yes. And add +1 to a triggered plus min counter
and then move the IK handle according.
But in only sends this boolean value ones. It does not trigger constant a boolean value of 1 when the midi device receives the ==.
So,how can I make an trigger that is constant sending a boolean yes to the triggered plus counter box when the midi recieved value is unchanged so the result is that a triggered plus counter box is adding the increment number up to the set max value as long the midi device has an value that gives an operator the value of true.
I have attached an printscreen of the constraint setup.
Please help

Hey there,
I’m afraid I don’t have a solution, but I’m dealing with a similar set-up, and having some problems too.
I’m trying to trigger playback of the motionbuilder timeline via a midi signal. I have it set-up the same way you do, with the midi signal sending to a number operator.
However, my problem is very basic. I cannot get the value of the midi in the relation constraint to change. The monitor in the midi device shows that it is receiving the Note On/Off signal, but the value coming out of the ‘Generic 1’ Input channel remains at zero, no matter what input notes it is receiving.
Could you tell me how you managed to get the midi note value to show up in the relation constraint?
I’ve attached a shot of my constraint set-up.
