Hi everyone,

newbie just starting 3d animation program, getting feet wet, bought academic package with maya, softimage, 3ds, motionbuilder, sketchpro, and mudbox.

Loaded them all, they seemed to install error free. First time I start MB2010, I get this dll is missing.

Found a post on cgpersia.com, same issue, someone said just get from http://fliiby.com/file/125177/9oz35×7hey.html

Don’t want to take advice or download an executable from people/sites I don’t know, so, please help me get oriented:

1) cgpersia.com known, trusted site?
2) fliiby.com, self proclaimed “worlds first digital file library”, known, trusted site?
3) anyone else get this error?
4) This dll seems to come from microsoft, or at least one of the same name, where should I get what I need?

THANKS!!!

Hi spinlock1315,

I’ve seen issues with this missing .dll on installs of other Applications. The information I found on the cause of this is below:-

The VCOMP90.DLL is a library file from the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package.  Some applications require the use of the libraries from the C++ redistributable packages and should install both the Visual C++ 2005 and 2008 redistributable packages during the installation of the application.

The issue may be caused by a previous corrupt installation of the following Windows components:-

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable

To resolve the issue, you may wish to test uninstall of the above components from Windows-Control Panel-Add or Remove Programs. On re-install of the 3rd Party application, the necessary Windows runtime components should be installed as required from the install media.

For further issues with Windows component install, please contact Microsoft support:-

Best Regards,

Lee

I tried reinstalling all those packages, the problem still is not fixed.

Edit: After a while I just searched the machine and found the dll in one of the subdirectories. I copied it to C:\Windows\system and do not get the warning anymore.

Thanks Stuffy for posting your solution. Worked for me too. There were enough of those .dll on my drive already. Just didn’t have a copy in the right place.

Cheers man.

Hi guys,

I too had the same problem. But, luckily, there is a simple solution:

1) Download the file I attached (it’s the missing DLL)

2) Place it in your <motionbuilderDir>\bin\x64 (for 64bit installation) or <motionbuilderDir>\bin\x86 (for 32bit installation). I’m not sure about the 32bit path as I don’t have a 32bit install here, but, you get the idea.

DONE. The error is gone. Now, if you need this library available for any other programs, you might want to place it in the C:\Windows\System directory to make it available for all programs.

Cheers…
