Hello!

Motion Builder is frustrating me since half the times I press the PLAY button, it skips to some random frame number, usually very far down the timeline where there is no actual animation (for example: frame 7358). Then I have to press rewind and play a few times until it plays from the beginning again…

Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a way to fix this?

Maybe you hoover mouse cursor over field that displays a tooltip. Tooltips disrupt playback.

I’d be curious to know if anyone else had a workaround for this (besides diving into the registry and disabling tooltips at large).

hrydek: is it a well known issue? If so, are there any other threads or articles about it that you know of?

Thanks,

Hi Jkgarrahan,

I’ve seen reports of issues similar to this before. Normally the problems are either due to problem with the Video Card Driver or running with un-tested and un-qualified hardware. See the link below for similar playback frame skipping issue with transport controls:-

timeline is stuck

http://area.autodesk.com/for...r-2009/timeline-is-stuck/

You should check and confirm from link below that you are running MotionBuilder with officially tested and qualified hardware and drivers:-

Autodesk MotionBuilder - Qualified Hardware -

if you have subscription support setup for MotionBuilder- you should also contact the Autodesk support team so that they can look into the problem for you.

Best Regards,

Hi Jkgarrahan,

I don’t think the issue with ToolTips display and playback is related to the original issue in this post with playback skipping.

If you hover over a ToolTip whilst playing back a scene in the viewer- Playback will appear to freeze whilst the ToolTip is displayed as the tooltip is being drawn on screen- To workaround that, simply move the mouse cursor away from the ToolTip whilst playback is enabled.

The issue with playback skipping sounds like it is most probably Video Card or driver related.

Best Regards,

Lee
