Hello All,

I am trying to plot character face animation that is driven by an audio file. So that I can import this animation into softimage. The character is speaking and walking just fine in motion building, I plotted the walking animation to the character and that makes it over to softimage. But when I use the plot animation button on the character face animation tab it seems to only create keyframes for the first frame of the animation.

The motion builder manual says to select the model and all of its shapes and then in the character face animation pane press the plot animation button. The only place I can find to select the shapes as they are hidden in motion builder, is in the properties tab of the asset browser when the head is selected.

but again once I press this button I only get one keyframe on the very first frame.

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Hi landr,

You mention that you are using an Audio file to drive the motion on the Character Face. If you are using the Voice Device with this setup, you will need to first Record the Voice Device before plotting to the Character Face. To do this:-

1. Select the Voice Device in Navigator View, set Device status to Online, Live & Recording
2. In Transport Controls- hit record then hit play to record the Voice Device.
3. From Navigator-Character Face Settings, select Plot Character Face to plot the character face animation to your Blend Shapes or clusters in scene.
4. After plotting, you can disable the Voice Device input and Character Face input and the animation should be ready for export.

Best Regards,

Lee

Thanks so much I would not have thought to record the audio file back into the take, it says to do that in the manual in a way but I read it as if you where using a microphone and recording into the software live. So again thanks for that solution. It saved me endless time.
