I’m quite new and so confused. So I just want to understand something, please: When wanting to animate a character or maybe an object, which software must I use? Motionbuilder? SoftImage? Character Studio (in 3ds Max)? Do I have to learn them all? What is the difference between them?

Thanx in advance

Hi Sidekick007 , you can use 3ds max, maya, softimage, and other 3d application which support animation stuffs. Motionbuilder is unique program which gives you realtime playback, mocap system, facial system and so on, if you want to make basic animation you dont have to learn mbuilder, do not forget, mbuilder has not modeling,rendering...program, it is just animation program. but the final will be always at your first package ,maybe 3ds max maybe other, so my advice choose the best fit 3d package for you (for me maya) ,then after learn in deeply and if it is necessary you can learn mbuilder. Theoretical, you can do everything with the 3d packages and do not need mbuilder if you not a mocap artist or realtime desire guy.
