Hi,

I registered my motionbuilder 7.5 and tried to install it OS X version on
the latest iMAC and got the following error:

LAYOUT WARNING!
At least one base layout couldn’t be loaded. Please check that the
corresponding .txt files weren’t moved or deleted. - see attached.

I just did the basic install and followed all the prompts. I am also admin
for this machine and installed as such.

After getting the error message I click okay and the program finishes
loading and even shows the toolbar at the top of the screen, but no joy
when any of the menu items selected. Please help !!!!!

Also own Maya 2008 commercial and have no issues on this particular computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Don.

can you check are there any layouts files in <MB root folder>\bin\config\Layouts\Base ? There are base layouts that MB uses. I have there:

--ANIMATION.txt
--CREATION.txt
--EDITING.txt
--PREVIEW.txt
--STORY.txt
-ANIMATION.txt
-CREATION.txt
-EDITING.txt
-PREVIEW.txt
-STORY.txt
ANIMATION
.txt
CREATION
.txt
EDITING
.txt
PREVIEW
.txt
STORY
.txt

Cheers!

Hi, Thanks for replying so very much ... I was giving up hope:

If I go into the applications folder it shows Autodesk>>MotionBuilder 7.5 it contains the MotionBuilder 7.5 app and a folder called Movies.
If I select the MotionBuilder 7.5 app and do show package contents it shows:

Contents >> MacOS>>config>>Layouts>>Base>> and then the files you have listed. I also changed the rights on the entire package to ensure read/write in case something was whacked there.

If I check under Users/Shared/Autodesk/MotionBuilder 7.5 it only shows a folder for:
OpenRealitySDK and
PythonScripting

If I go under Library/Application Support/Alias it just has an uninstaller directory for Maya

Local Library >>Preferences for me shows only Autodesk>>Alias and the my Maya 2008 stuff

So, the only place these files appear is in the app package. I did a default install and I have full rights on the system I am using. Are these files supposed to be somewhere else??? Did the installer fail to fully place everything where it should?

Thanks again for taking the time to try and help me out.

Don.

unfortunately I never saw MacOS MB install, so I can’t tell you what is wrong. If layout files are in place, then I can’t say nothing more. Maybe contact your reseller.

Cheers.

forget it, i fixed it by removing the user’s windows profile and it worked. I guess that some motionbuilder files stays on the profile even after uninstalling it…
