I’ve seen this in the past once in a while and now I’m seeing it a ton. When using Auto-Rigid Body to fill in gaps, I often see a strange behavior where in the beginning and end of a gap, the gap is filled with what looks like proper data, however there are little “dips” in the curves.
I’ve attached an image of what I’m describing.
Anyone have an answer as to the cause or a remedy?

Come on, no one has ever seen this before? I’ve seen it plenty. I just don’t know why it happens. Someone at Autodesk must have an answer…

HI,
I’ve never tried to gap fill in MotionBuilder, however from my experiences with Optical MoCap the problem could be that other ‘members’ of the rigid body set are also missing, so without realistic data to base the fill on, anything goes. Could you try manually cutting the spikes and filling with splines? This would only be appropriate with gaps of < 15ms or so. What kind of tools does your MoCap system provide? Cortex, IQ, or Blade are much better suited to gap filling than MB.
Cheers,
Rich
