I was wondering if anyone had any experience of using a treadmill for capturing run cycles etc for game purposes, most obvious use being able to set the exact speed and keep them consistent between directions bla bla.  Would you use to capture these kind of moves again?

Haven’t used one yet, but I will be using one in two weeks so I can let you know how it goes and any complications I come across.

Treadmill can be bad but sometimes necessary.  Most time they absorb impact taking away from your overall motion but when you have limited space they can be a good option.

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

I have just finished capturing using a treadmill. I will post a video once I get the data transferred to a character.

If what you’re looking for is to keep a character’s motion in place for a game or trigger motion, There’s a setting within the “character settings’ tab that will let you do just that.
Scroll down to ‘modifiers’, click the arrow to view options. Look for the ‘In Place’ option and click on the arrow. There you can select the axis or combination thereof to achieve the ‘In Place’ motion you’re looking for. This will work while in the Story tab, or while playing a motion in RT. No need for treadmills. Hope it helps

also the stride length of a run versus on a treadmill is different because of a person attempt to not hit the front its always a goofy run. they bob when they run using it and you tend to slightly float back and forth while running on the treadmill also. If you can avoid using them is my advice

Hey thanks, good points I hadn’t considered, I guess it can influence the run adversely in more than a few ways.
