I am having all kinds of issues getting a good normal map. In the first image, you can see the low poly object. In the 2nd image, you can see the details I added just for testing. In the 3rd, image you can see the normal map applied to the base mesh and the distortions I end up getting.

In the 4th image, I took the base cube included in Mudbox with 7 division levels and added some details. In the 5th image, you can see the base level of this box with the normal showing some strange stuff and distortions.

I am using the default setting using raycast… What am I doing wrong?

When I sculpt details that are close to a straight line, the normal ends up curving and twisting…

I must be missing something here…

P.S. Added two more images of base mesh with normal and errors + detail mesh. Why am I getting those distortions in some areas and not in others?
