Hi Guys,

I am totally new to mudboxa its community so sorry for any stupid questions.

Until now i worked with Cinema 4d and i was used too use my two Monitors at work.

I started Mudbox, and after a few minutes of cheking everything i tryd to switch my Interface to my second monitor. But i am fricking not able too… seems like its locked or ( and thats the critical point) the only option is the Expert window mode…

So if anybody is understanding my bad english an my Problem… let me hear your tipps and solutions.

I would like to have my 3d Window on the one Monitor andthe rest of the Ui on the Other.. ( bit similar to Photoshop)

So how can i unlock and lock again my Windows…

Greetz

Tim

As mudbox uses teh QTY libary theres a whole lot you can do, including adding ui elemnts, move stuff around etc....  One quick mess around I did ages back for a joke (that nearly got me into troble!) was turning the whole ui a whole load of differnt colors....I think it may have been the barbie pink one that didnt go down well lol.

So yes with the sdk a whole load of stuff is possible....

Please, can You share some customized GUI? I’ld be very happy if i can darken the grey-interface theme (the red zone in Your example...). Thank You.

If you want to do stuff without learning how to program (welcome to the club!) then things are somewhat limited…

You can open new UI windows via the windows menu in Mudbox then drag them on to your other monitor, but good old mudbox wont remember any of this so you would have to do it every time you start the program :). Hopefully in the next version the UI will be a bit more flexbile.

Mudbox still has by far the most well thought out UI of any Autodesk software I’ve used however lol.

Thanks for all this info. I was just wondering about all this and if there was some trick to getting Mudbox to save your workspace. A UI upgrade to add this and docking would be nice.

One thing I’d like to do is to hide the east frame without even using expert mode. Is that possible? And is it possible to remove the split in the east or south frames? When I right-click on the split, I get a small pop-up box with North, South, East and West (with a checkbox next to each), but it’s all grayed out. Is there a way to un-gray it?

Edit: Are there any scripts around that non-programmers like me can drop in to get better control over the UI?

Wow I can’t believe Mudbox 2012 doesn’t have a customizable interface. I just downloaded the trial version and am using it for the first time. Even Electric Image on the Mac had customizable panels/viewports back in ‘96 when I was using it then.

As mentioned above you can float all the windows and move them over to the second monitor. But they don’t save their positions so you’ll quickly get fed up moving them back every time you launch Mudbox. You’re best off forgetting about it and just put stuff like reference on the second monitor.

I do agree it should save that and allow more customisation, but until it does you’d better get used to the default layout.

UI customisation doesnt figure highly in my book but I would like better functionality on the object list window, also close up the wide open spaces of the tool options so I dont have to scroll all the time.
