I have a few spiked areas on my displacement map exr that I want to fix in photoshop (CS5)
The problem is if i simply open and save the file it’s going from 45 megs to 15 megs, without even touching the image, and in maya the displacement drops to almost nothing. (Loosing floating point data i take it) It looks the same when I open it again, and still says it’s 32 bit.
Is there something I’m doing wrong? Or a better way to fix it without loosing my 32 bit info?
Thanks in advance

sorry my english.. this post is old but i found it checking the same problem and found
also a solution and post here for others..
seems the openEXR plugin of photoshop is not so good and dont give you options to save floating point and ruin at this way your displacement maps,
you can find other plugin to replace the one of photoshop, it is “ProEXR” but not freware so
you have 15 days to use or enter serial number
i have tested this new plugin with serial entered only but maybe 15 days demo works too, i could
fix my exr displacement map and save it out with no loss
hope it helps
