I ran into the following challenges while painting my model:
1) I painted a projection image onto one side of my model head and I had mirroring turned on but for some reason it wouldn’t paint it onto the far side. I tried this a few times, deleting the paint layer and starting again but no luck.
2) To work around this, I tried using the clone tool with mirroring on to clone the material from the painted side to the other.
However, it ends up painting over the good side too. In other words I only want the cloning to be mirrored and not the painting, so that it will copy the one side and while mirroring it, paints it onto the other side only. It would be nice to be able to do this.
Barring this, is there a way to simply tell Mudbox to quickly mirror one whole side onto the other?
3) Is there a way to flip a template?
It looks like I will have to paint the other side independently, but the results will not be as symmetrical as I would like. Also, I will have to flip the template jpeg outside of mbox and bring it back in so that it is the mirror image. Even then, getting it to match up and painting the other side will not be very consistent with the originally painted side.
4) I find that when I go to the image browser, select an image and then click Set stencil, and then in the model window work on scaling the stencil to match the model, When I select Edit Stencil, it keeps reverting to a small postage stamp image of the stencil over the model.
Any solutions or tips will be much appreciated!
