hai there,

Im new to Mudbox and have trouble getting my UV-map to work in Mudbox. This is the situation;

I created a lowpoly mesh in 3Ds max to lay out my landmarks for an enviroment. In Mudbox I subdivided this mesh lv 6 to get better resolution and start sculpting. After finishing my work I exported the a lv 3 mesh( lowpoly ) from Mudbox to 3Dsmax to start setting up my UVmap.

Having done this I now want to import the baked mesh into Mudbox to start painting.

The import is fine. Problem is when I start to raise my levels the UVmap seems to distort. I dont know where I went wrong or how to solve this problem.

thx in advance!

I’m a ZBrush guy so I can’t offer any Mudbox specifics.

When subdividing a mesh the UV map is subdivided also. Depending on how your UV clusters are set up there could be adverse affects.

I noticed you sent back the mesh at subdivision level 3 for UV mapping. Why not do it right from the get-go at level 1?

Thx for the reply,

Well about exporting at lv 3 thats kinda on advise of a teacher who said to take the level which resembles my high level sculp the most. So we kinda took the middle way. Im totally new to mudbox so I just followed his advise.

But I geuss I learned the hard way, next time ill export at level ZERO.

Geuss nothing can be dont at this point then to start over…
