If I change the material to crome and the lighting to gallery I can get the object to display in a faded yellow color and can see the mesh, but it is still not right. while the object is black I can tumble it and see the mesh on the inside of the object, with the same pail yellow color as when I change the material and lighting. I have tried running mudbox in compatability mode, but to no avail. I have included the system info from mudbox and a screen shot of what I see when I create an object, if anyone can help or sugest anything it would sure be appreciated. Looks just.. extremely low quality when i paint it on, can't even recognize the stencil picture because of the quality.. I have tried with a 3k image and 2k stencil, even raised the subdivs up to lvl 6 but no matter what i do it is the same result. Deleted the mudbox folder too in "my documents" but without any luck. It does however work if i start a new scene and try on a preset object so even tried exporting and importing my mesh. I am really stuck with my current project and require some help! My goal is to texture a single group .obj via the PTEX painting method then transfer it over to 3ds max to then export as .3ds I have a .obj file which I am texturing inside Mudbox because it supports texturing and painting which is non vertex based (hi res textures on low poly model) The model is relatively low poly (sub 60k) because I need to convert it in to .3ds at the final stage. I have messed around with so many programs and hit brick walls at every turn. UV maps are not an option as this 3D model was captured from a real life sculpture using Kinect. When I set up the .obj for texture painting Mudbox tells me to either create a UV map or use PTEX painting which I have been doing because the UV option gives me more problems. So texturing using this PTEX method works fine for me. Until I try to get the model over to 3ds max..... I can't work out how to get the PTEX texture data over with the model. I realize this is not a simple fix but I have to start somewhere I need good help! Even sending a .fxb file over seems to forget the texture data. Here's the deal - I get the idea behind leaving external UV borders unsmoothed, that's perfectly fine. But why doesn't Mudbox smooth internal UV borders anymore? I'm coloring a texture on my character, and all internal UV borders areas are completely messed up. I am checking Smooth Positions and Smooth UVs inside Subdivision Options, and unchecked Preserve Borders. logic says that it would be enough (anywhere apart from the borders is working sweetly and smoothly as usual) I'm at a complete lost here... Already downloaded Service Pack 3, still - no solution. Am I missing something here?
