I’ve created/downloaded a few new stencils. there are a few with borders like a thumbnail pic. how do i just use the image and not the project the Square box onto my mesh?

If you’re painting using them as stencils, then you can just not paint right up to the borders. But it’s easier to load them up in Photoshop or whatever image editor you have and just crop the edges of the image off.

thanks,

im currently using a few to sculpt, but why i have your attention. i had tried and failed to write something out in a microsft word and save it to be used as a stencil. of course i failed in that endeavor. would photoshop be a good way to write out my own stamps or would you have another suggestion?

Yeah if you want to create text stencils or stamps, you’ll need to use some sort of image editor to make them. Mudbox uses transparency for no effect with stencils and stamps, so you need text on a transparent background most of the time. Word probaqbly can’t output an image on a transparent background.

Photoshop is certainly a good option. Photoshop Elements will do and is much cheaper. Or else GIMP which is free. But I don’t like the interface.
