I agree that its good to take a step away from the scary assed monsters every once in a while.  (Heck I even did a cartoon character for my son lolol.)

I love this render.the hair is particularly impressive.the expression seems to really stand out for me even though it is very neutral and subtle.

Amazing Render with Maya Hair. Very Impressed with the full and realistic look of the hair. “Very jealous” is probably more fitting of my feelings at the moment.

{groan} Back to the drawing board I guess..

Very nice work Pascal… The hair are definitely great… I tried once shave with RFM and it looked nice but couldn’t get a shadow pass (only) out of it.

Jacques.

Thank you guys for your posts. I used the passes from renderman in shake like sss, occlusion, spec, reflection (the standard passes.) but I had some issues with maya fur self shadowing while outputting passes (not when doing a full render), Also I couldn’t get the maya hair in the occlusion calculation (which is actually probably better) so I used a polygon mesh to cast the shadows only on the scalp and then spotlights with deepshadows to get self shadows on maya hair.I’ll try to post some wireframe.
Jacquesd , thanks man. I did a test once with shave and I couldn’t get any illumination from the IBL. If I was only using the environment light the hair would look pitch black.

cheers!

Pascal
