Hi there,
Here is a wip render of a Beethoven portrait I am working on.
All modeling done in Mudbox, base mesh by Oglu, textures done in Mudbox2011 and Photoshop, rendered with Renderman.
I am now going to focus on the eyes shading and textures.
And also some time lapse vids I did while sculpting his face.
Cheers,
Pascal

And here are some progress on this project. Re modeled head based on new references (death mask), added hair and rendered with Vray for maya.

Beethoven had a hard life and you’ve certainly captured the tortured genius look.
Looking at the series of images, it appears as though you’ve been making his chin/jawline smaller and smaller, it looked better in the earlier versions. Also on the colour, he looks a bit too tanned and weather-beaten for someone who probably spent most of his life in a darkened candlelit room playing the piano It’s a bit heavy on the sss redness in places, and still a bit waxy.
I’m sure you’ll nail it in the end though, judging by your other work.

I wish there was a video of the texturing phase of this scuplt. The skin texturing is spectacular…
