Hi all,

I just start working on mudbox one month ago, im learning at Barcelona (Spain) school 3D animation , and this is my first self portrait, please feel us free to say all your opinions to make it better.

i’m currently working on a self portait. this seems like your doing a great job on yours. would you have any tips for me? i’m using alot of refrence pictures i took on my phone is there another way?

hi!

It is really important a lot of references, not even just for modeling but for the textures. For a more realistic result, I started doing each part separately, mouth, ears… It’s also important to have references of anatomy, when you have the idea about the muscles and this stuff you can work in yourself. I didn’t increase geometry until I saw that it was right, and as the same for each level.

Don’t become obsessed on details. You should work on overview, and keep doing the details at the same time,( work in layers, you can delete them if don’t like the result). I also move the light (hotkey “L") and the perspective all the time to see the depths of the sculpture. To finish off, take photos with more quality than a mobile for the textures, and think that the light have colour, that was my worst mistake.
