Thanks a lot everyone!
@Chrismith: Yes I use SSS on the eyes but not a crazy amount… Just enough… The effect is more about the depth than really the amount though. For the cornea, I use a ‘Fresnel’ effect where it’s around 4% at normal incidence and 90 % at glancing angle and yes, the amount of specular/reflection is even on the entire material.
@maxer: Yes Modo has a cool fur/hair system in 401 :)
@xtrm3D: Yes that was many moons ago Christophe, thank you mate :)
@Dennis H: What do you want to know? To make it short, the base mesh was done in Modo, the sculpting and most of the texturing was done in Mudbox and the rendering was done back in Modo.
Thank you Wayne!
@oglu: Yes the texturing was done in Mudbox… As for the workflow, that’s pretty straight forward… some stencil and custom brushes… Nothing really special… I haven’t used Mudbox for texturing for long so I just did a couple of tests watched some videos of Wayne and that’s it.
@Silva Spoon: You know there’s much to say, if you model the eyes more or less in a realistic way and use a good balance between diffuse, SSS and reflection, you should get an interesting result… I think the tricky part is to use the right values for everything… a bit too much of any part of your shading and you might loose the effect… That’s all about observation… Compare you CG eye with a real one and try to figure out what’s wrong or what’s missing.
@tintin009 : Thanks, I’ll post a screen grab next time.
Thanks a lot Robin!
Thanks xande3d, I will next time ;)
Thank you Dave, I think I know what you mean and it should be partly fixed in the next update.
Thanks jdevlearning :)
You’re right ylimani, I think I already improved it a bit, will post it next time.
I agree Robert_F, I’ll try to fix those too.
Hey Roger… Thanks a lot mate :)
Thanks ronalle, I’ll post wireframe and Mudbox screen grab next time.
Thank you Hunter !
I’ve been quite busy lately so I couldn’t do much on the chimp but I thought I’d show another one I brought back to Mudbox for texturing… The sculpting was done in the previous version (1.07)
Cheers,
Jacques.
