Hey guys i am totally new to 3D modelling having spent most of my time coding rather than design but after trying it out over the past couple of days i have realised that i enjoy it far more than sitting down and coding and to that end i need some help to figure out how to do the following:

1. I started of modelling a head which turned out rather well (not the painting part admittedly) and so i was wondering how to attach said head to a body. I would like to replace the head thats on the model that shipped with mudbox and continue working on the rest of the character

2. The character i want to create is based on james camerons avatar which only have three fingers on each hand instead of the usual four so i was wondering is there any way to select one of the fingers (using faces perhaps) then delete that portion of the sculpture?

3. Painting; As mentioned my paint job didn’t go too well and this can be seen in the screen grabs i am posting, so my question is whats the best method to paint? should i use an image and try and use the projection brush? (this only really seems to be appropriate if the objects match exactly) or is there a better option?

and finally

4. I would like to animate the character once finished but i would like to study the process of animating alongside my character sculpt, so what could i use to animate the character once finished? I have Cinema4D which i downloaded after praise from a friend and good reviews online.

I posted this in in general help a couple of days ago by mistake so i’ve edited that down to just a few of the questions. My apologies for any duplications in the thread

Thanks to anyone willing to reply in advance either with help or constructive criticism.
