Something that always bugged me about mudbox, is that it appears to only support 8bit PSD. is this correct?

If we’re painting maps in 16bit, (as per the recommendation when creating textures in mudbox for better paint blending performance). If we want to export our 16 bit tiff layers to a PSD to paint, they have to be converted to 8 bit, then reimported as 8 bit. That seems destructive.

Any plans on exporting to 16bit psd?

This is a pretty common wish and has been reported to the mudbox team, so they’re aware of it. I can’t say when it’ll be added though. Adobe is notorious for keeping their file format secretive.

If the team cant get the info for 16bit PSD… Perhaps they could create an export to photoshop via 16bit tif function. It would behave the same way as the export PSD, but in a layered 16bit tif

That would be nice
