I found this thread and it seems appropriate for my question.

Please forgive my newbie terminology.

I was hoping the Wax Brush could be used in an additive process.
If you sculpt in real-life with clay (or wax), you build-up your model piece by piece.
That’s what I was hoping to do in Mudbox.
Is it possible?

On some of those videos of Mudbox v2009 in this thread, it looks like the Wax Brush is adding new geometry to the model. Is that correct?

Otherwise it seems the brushes aren’t able to do that, rather they just perform a “bulge” or “raise” operation on existing geometry?

Sorry i don’t actually have Mudbox to experiment with, and am only basing my question on what I can glean from videos and online conversations.

if you like to have the wax brush more additive you have to adjust also the strengh…
the wax brush works best if you increase the size and the strengh at the same time…

bigger brush --> higher strenght
smaller brush --> lower strenght

if you like to have a different brush…
just report it as new feature…
in the mud help menue --> suggest a feature

But it is actually adding geometry or just moving verts around like the other brushes appear to do?

The only thing mud does in the way of adding geometry is when you subdivide a mesh. What you are talking about is more akin to the way sculptris works (and zbrush’s new claytime update).
