Hi everyone

I’m suffering a problem with Mudbox 2011 in mac OsX 10.6.4

I’ve installed the trial / Educational version and when i run the program it works, so… when i try to start with any mesh in 3D View the program shutts down unexpectably,…

I’m just getting crazy

I’m just a student and my teacher told me that could be by the graphic card,… so in the Mudbox specifications the Nvidia GeForce 7300 Gt is allowed,…

could you help me?¿

my graphic Card Specification is:

Model of chipset: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT
Type: GPU
Bus: PCIe
Ranura: Slot-1
Anchura de canal PCIe: x16
VRAM (total): 256 MB
Fabricante: NVIDIA (0x10de)
ID del dispositivo: 0x0393
ID de la revisión: 0x00a1
Revisión de la ROM: 3008

my computer is a MAC PRO of 2007

best regards

Probably the gpu as mudbox tends to require better graphics cards. I had the exact same thing happen with my 8600m GT

thanks oglu / Cryid,…
I’m in the beleaving that my graphic card is a bit older and maybe not enought to run mudbox,…
how i can probe it,… i mean
if im going to any web or real store and if I buy a new graphic card and then the mudbox doesn’t work…

i’m looking for the way to discover what’s wrong to solve it, i’m thinking about the grpahic card but i’m not sure,… ¿it’s anyway to discover it?¿

thanks a lot

Actually the 7300 is certified for Mudbox 2011. It must be OSX 10.6.4 that is causing the crash. Mudbox is only certified up to 10.6.2

I have got the same problem even after installing the service pack, does anyone have mudbox running 2011 running on OSX 10.6.4?

I have the exact same issue as OP, I have a MacPro 1,1 with same video card and get the same result when trying to open a mesh.  I work for a high school and we have a lab full with various different types of macs and this is the only model not working, also the oldest model in the bunch.  I have tried Autodesks fix of deleting the Application Support files for Mudbox, which fixes nothing.  I have also rolled the OS back from 10.6.4 to 10.6.2 and another machine to 10.6, both still have the same issue.  I do get slightly different crash codes depending on the OS version here is the crash code for the 10.6 and 10.6.2 version

Not real sure what this all means but hoping that somebody here does.  We are running the Animation Academy here at the school and everything else works great, just mudbox on these two machines.  I am also leaning towards a video card issue but Autodesk says that it is certified so it should work.  If I get time this week I will roll one of these machines back to 10.5.8 and see what happens, I will let you know if I have any success.  If any body wants to see the full crash codes I have all that info, just didn’t want to waste space here with all that extra info.  Thanks for the help.

No matter how physically appealing they may be and how well they look in a showroom store. I personally don’t like Macs and never have, I know more and more software is on Macs but that is because Mac users cry like BabyBoomers, since the mac was created by a BabyBoomer it’s no surprise.  Sure Bill Gates is funding population control, and I don’t like the man my self but Macs are expensive computers that are just that expensive.  I don’t own any Apple product and never will, I find the iPad intriguing but I’m more interested in RIM ‘Playbook’, and when and if that day comes I need a smart phone the odds are pretty good I’ll go with a ‘blackberry’ there is no reason to have a i<something> it’s just a fad and gimmick from the generation we all refer to in the world as the BabyBoomers.

I just ran into the exact same problem on 4 iMacs at our art school. Since I am only versed in Windows I did not find a solution yet. But i also suspect the GPU, be it driver issues or overall lack of performance.

I guess there has not been any news on the subject?

I downloaded the trial the other day. Love the program but there has been alot of trouble for me. First of all my ATI Radeon HD 4850 seems useless in this program. Cant go above 4 in quality on the AO passes. Never had any trouble in other 3D apps or games. I run a iMac 27” 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 with 8GB RAM.

Then the problem you have described appeared. I could use it one evening, turn of the computer. The next morning when I tried to launch it i got the report above. I found a sollution though. If I deleted the files in:

User/Library/Preferences/Mudbox/2012/

And

User/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Mudbox 2012/

When this happened this morning removed file by file and tried to start. If it didn’t help I moved the file back. In the end the file that made Mudbox crash at startup for me was:

brushes.sav in the settings folder.

Hope they fix this…

**EDIT**

Oops… Sorry, noticed this was about 2011 and Nvidia. I’ll start a new thread and hope this helps someone.
