I had a similar problem some weeks ago.
But it was slightly different, because when I started mudbox, it crashed on the startupscreen with the common message “Mudbox Application Funktioniert nicht mehr” = “Mudbox aplication crashed”
I solved this issue by deleting everything in the settings folder. Mudbox generated those files with default settings and all worked fine after that - you may try that too

James, the issue has been narrowed down to the transform tools—if you avoid using them the settings should remain stable. We’ll be issuing a fix for this problem soon, hopefully next week.
