looking further into this i think ive figured out that the “te;mp%” folder in the fbx importer script is not working correctly. or is not being updated.
i changed it to the correct path and ran it in maxscript and it worked.

so i changed the paths in the scripts called

fbx importer.ms
fbx exporter.ms
obj.importer.ms
obj.exporter.ms

and now all works the way its intended.
let me know if i should not do this.
thanks Wayne. loving the tool now.

Yep you caught a rare mistake caused to be honest by lots of code changes in the last 3 days..I’d accidentally included the old paths for my own pesonal build and not the production build versions.  So the installer files have now been fixed and help files updated to point out that you MUST have UAC turned off.  (I didn’t now anyone still had that annoying thing turned on lol).  I covered it in detial on you post on the hub to save reposting some of it twice.

But hey its free and no one got killed or maimed so its all good now lol. :) Any other bugs that anyone spots please don’t hesitate to post them on the bug thread in the plugins section of mudboxhub.  (Remember that as these are not Autodesk made plugins they cannot use the area as a support structure.)

New 32 bit installer for MudWalker (Installer software had missed out the actual plugin file), so please download again from the hub or use the file provided and stick in your mudbox / plugins folder.

Hi, Wayne,
Thank you for creating the MudWalker.

I’ve followed the instruction in the help document to install the plug-in. I am using Maya 2009 SP1a and Mudbox 2010 trial on Windows XP x64. MudWalker menu is shown in both applications. Also, Autodesk FBX 2010.2 is installed for Maya 2009 x64 after MudWalker is installed.
0. Both Maya and Mudbox are loaded with empty scene.
1. I simply create a sphere in Maya. Save the file as test.mb (if I didn’t save the file, Maya will crash as I click on FBXOut icon)
2. I click on FBXOut. I got this message Logfile: “C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\maya\FBX\Logs\2010.2\fbxmayalog.txt” in the script editor. Nothing happens after or exported to Mudbox. After I click FBXOut, I should see the model pop back in Mudbox for further sculpting as seen in the demo video.

as a following test. I tried to go the other way around, meaning from Mudbox to Maya.
1. I create a default head in Mudbox. Click on “Export to Maya 2009 FBX”.
2. A new Maya is launched no matter if there is already one existing, which is kind of not a prefer workflow IMHO.
3. Interestingly, as I click on FBXIn in Maya, the “sphere”, which I previously exported by FBXOut, is now imported in instead of the wanted default head?

Please advise if I did something incorrectly. Thanks.

Please see my reply over on mudboxhub (which is the proper place for support for mudWalker and ReLight as neither are autodesk products ...which is what the area is for. )
Thanks

Hi Wayne!
Sorry for buzzering you, got mudbox 2011SAP and 3ds Max Design 2011. After installing Mudwalker 1.515 it appears on max interface but nothing happens when I try to use it, and in Mudbox did not appear at all. I understand that the fault is mine, trying to find the answer on the net but without any luck. Hope I’ll get the right answer here. Thanks!
