I am new to mudbox and loving it, but I am encountering a problem I don’t know how to solve.

See attached images.  I am painting along an edge and it is stretching the texture out in spikes, almost as if by every other face.

I am painting a 2048 map size.  It is unwrapped.  It is subdivided into 5 levels.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

.... EDIT - I can’t attach 2 jpgs or a zip file for some reason.

take a look at the images here:

I updated the link with the uvs.

I unwrapped in max and made sure there were no overlapping uvws and that my checker pattern was even.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean by smoothing UVs.

take a look at the uv view in mudbox…
mud wont smooth your uvs like max or maya…

you can turn it on in the subD options…

sorry to be a pain.  could you give me a bread crumb trail as to where to find that setting to change.  I can’t find it in the help.

I tried “recreating the levels uvs” - that did not help.

thanks

Ok… I found those settings finally… but it doesn’t change anything.

One thing to note.  any where else on my model, I can drag a paint line and it comes out perfect.  Along that edge around the mouth… looks odd.

thanks for any help.

Wayne - did you get to see the UVs?

I have not gotten solution to this yet, so would love some more feed back.  I will try to post some more images as well.

Image 1 - The original model with 2 subdivisions

Image 2 - the subdivided model with 3 single strokes.  Notice the middle one.  Why does this happen?

Image 3 - The low rez version.  looks semi ok here.

I have tried the above remapping, but did not work.

If you post that section of the mesh as an OBJ, I’d be happy to take a look at it.
