The background is set to 0.5 grey and rendered as TIFF 16 from Maya. However, when applied as a sculpt using 'displacement' in Mudbox, the mesh slightly inflates (or deflates actually) every so slightly. I made the bones in maya, at level 0 of the geometry. Exported, and in mudbox I painted all the bones influences at level 0. Perfect, I could do any pose, move fingers, move legs, etc, save poses and so on. The problem is, when I subdivided the model for further detailing, my bone weights are all incorrect, and the polygons won't deform correctly. I tried to make the bone weights again at level 4 and it's extremely slow and improper for any kind of production. When importing that camera into Mudbox, I am not getting the same view when I look through. It looks like the FOV has changed. I am also looking for a resolution gate - inside Maya, I can set my camera to look through the resolution gate I am rendering. But I can't find that option inside Mudbox. I setup a camera inside Maya using an Image Plane. I basically project an image to the image plane, and started to model a low poly geometry. The camera, plus the geo was exported as an .fbx, and borught into Mudbox. I want to use the projection tool inside Mudbox. I dont know if this could be an issue, but when i do the retopology i put holes in eyes and mouth. because i wanted to add eyeballs later. Can this be avoided? 2) Why, when I send the model to Maya, does the gloss and spec disappear, and the entire model in Maya becomes shiny instead of just the places I painted? 3) When do people use gloss vs. specular? I watched a tutorial that recommended sticking only to gloss to add skin highlights, unless you want to break up an area of uniform specularity, then use spec with black paint to diminish it in places.
