hey there,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is an option in 2010 to smooth the uv border. When i toggle on the smooth uv option when i subdivide i noticed that it doesn’t smooth the border of my uv’s also.

This gives me overlapping uv’s in areas because my uvs are smoothing internally but my borders are remaining hard.

So when i try and render a displacement with uv smooth on it crashes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What 3dapp and renderer are you using to render your final scene?

Hi Soulburn,

Thanks for the response. But i think i have answered my own question after looking deeper.

What i have found is that mudbox does NOT smooth uv borders on your shell when you bake out the map.

So when you check on the Target Model “smooth Target Uv’s option in the texture extraction It only has the ability to smooth the internal uv’s of the shell while your border remains faceted.

What i thought it did was smooth both internal and uv broder of your shell. Which from what i understand Pixars renderman allows the user to choose whether to smooth or keep your UV borders. Buy turning this on i would have assumed that it is smoothing both the internal and border of your shell.

If anyone else can educate me further or thinks i am wrong please let me know, i would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.

If anyone has any other knowledge on the subject i would be more than happy to hear it.
