I have an issue with any model.  even the default bull for example.  The problem is with the paint feature using a 4096 image size selected as the layer output.  I can paint just fine everything looks great. however when I export the map and open in photoshop the image looks shifted or offset by some ammount in the vertical alignment only.  so the problem is also when if i simply paint on the model and uncheck the layer then turn it back on.  here are pictures illustrating the issue.  basically the paint becomes un-aligned with the uv map.

all paint features seems to work fine with a 2K texture selected though?  so no idea why works for 2K but not 4K

im running Mudbox 2010 MAC OS X 10.5.8

:(

I installed Mudbox 2010 on my HP Compaq nw8240 that I’ve been using for Maya for several versions (it was originally on the approved hardware list).  Here’s the System Info as presented by Mudbox:

OPERATING SYSTEM
Name: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version: 5.1.2600
Service Pack: 2.0
Architecture:
Registered User: David Halbstein
Language: 1033
Domain Role: 0
Total Physical Memory: 2047 MB
Total Virtual Memory: 2047 MB

PROCESSOR
Number of Processors: 1
Logical Processors: 0
Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
Name:  Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2.00GHz
Version: Model 13, Stepping 8
Description: x86 Family 6 Model 13 Stepping 8
Address Width: 32
Number of Cores: 0
Max Core Speed: 1994 MHz

VIDEO
Card Name: ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5000
Memory: 128 MB
Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll
Driver Version: 6.14.10.6706
Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 x 4294967296 colors

I installed Mudbox, but the 3Dview is black.  The cursor is a small dot; when I import a model (even the default cube) nothing shows up.  The UV view seems to be fine.

Is there a compatibility list, or a list of known bugs?  When this problem occurred, I upgraded my video driver to the latest version (8.391.7.1000) but I get the same problem. I then uninstalled and re-installed Mudbox, also to no avail.

Although I am an experienced Maya user, I have no real experience with Mudbox - but after looking at the help files and the movies, and having seen Mudbox demonstrated - it is apparent that this is not normal.

I only see qual charts for other Autodesk products.  If there’s one for Mudbox, maybe someone could point me to it.  Thanks

your video card has only 128MB… you need a card with more than 256MB…
i recommend one with 1gig…

update your system… also the ram…
mudbox needs highend hardware…

Your Pc is seriously underpowered. this is from autodesk site “For a productive user experience with Mudbox, it is recommended to use a card which has a minimum of 512MB of video memory and support for 32 bit texture channels.” along with this you need at least some kind of Dual Core Cpu 2Ghz+, min of 2GB but really should be 4GB min, SATA drive (fast one) and 64-bit OS. otherwise your just going to be fustrated

are you sure they are black..?
those are 32bit images so they may look totally black on screen…
go into the image browser and hit “+” 20times to show them brighter....

so i saw there was a new option for importing the maps generated as soon as extraction was done, i forgot to check those off. so the displacement map was causing those errors.

As far as the black VDM map, my computer automatically starts them off at black, just went into my image broswer and pressed “+” a few couple of times and bam.

Playing with Mudbox 2011 trial, i get this when i open a 2010 .mud file, or when i open the example files. This is the 32bit version, when i put my mouse pointer over the models i get this warning; so to get out of that i have to put the pointer on the bar or properties
With 2010 version i didn’t have any problem. I have the latest Nvidia Driver for my card.
I didn’t have this problems with 2010 version.

My system:
- Win7 Ultimate 32bit
- AMD Phenom(tm) 8650 Triple-Core Processor 2300 MHz
- 4gb Ram.
- NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT 512MB - Driver Version: 8.17.11.9713

So i don’t understand what it’s happening :(

Update: Please admin delete my double post, the system didn’t let me to upload the attachment because “busy server” message so when i pressed “refresh”, well.. happened that. I’m sorry, not my fault.

Update#2: About the “Paths” problems, had a fix. Deleting preferences and let the default paths folder.  The thing i don’t understand is why this problem keeps on Mudbox, it’s been around since Mudbox 2009, the same with installation issues, all the problems are mostly the same, 2 version before, those bugs and problems persist?  C’mon guys, your geniuses, you can fix that, you know how pa...in the a.. is encounter those problems? Imagine new people trying to play with Mud, and found those BIG issues… -_- HOPE that SP1 has a lot of fixes this time.

Besides that, Mudbox 2011 is an excellent program, new tools, new stuff, new interface color; deserve my 9/10. (+

Hello,
Number 1) I downloaded the mudbox trial on my home imac (i7 imac 27") and it runs fine.
I tried to download the mudbox trial here at work, on a different mac, and the app crashes everytime I get the opening screen and select any example mesh.  I have downloaded the trial twice with no luck.  Mudbox still crashes - I suspect it is because it is the first generation intel mac, with EFI32.  Is anyone else with a first gen intel mac pro able to open and run the Mudbox 2011 trial?

Number 2) No search engine with discussions?  I see ten, eleven pages on this thread.  I don’t know if what I am experiencing is common - so a search would narrow things down.  Am I supposed to read through all discussion threads to see if there is a known issue/solution?  If so, UGH.

Thanks.
