you need a highend graphics card to run mudbox… i recommend a geforce 9800GT or faster…
it might work with maya but mud needs more power…

Crap. Then I need a new computer..

I could upgrade my ram to 4 GB. Would this help?

it depends on your budget.. I just got a dell T7500 for home with an fx5800. It’s an expensive machine, but sculpting 32million polys wasn’t much slower than sculpting a box made of 6 polys.
It’s extremely responsive and fast!

I think HP have a rig that’s capable of handling two of these cards.

I’m not sure what to get on the lower end though, but if I were you I’d go for nvidia, they are supporting mudbox ( and other autodesk products ).

In Mudbox 2011 64bit I have a display problem after installing a Gigagbyte GTX 480 (an Nvidia clone).  It displays with really black shadows, which just looks wrong and unfamiliar.
I think this could be a result of the Nvidia application display settings.  I’m not sure what to do
about it.
