Hi,

When I paint with wireframe turned on the wireframe lines disappear in areas where I lay down strokes.  They reappear when I change the view slightly.  This happens when I paint in 3D mode or Flattened UV mode.  Please see attached images to see the issue demonstrated.

Not sure if this is video card related but I am using a NVIDIA Quadro 5600 with Driver 259.12 (Mudbox Compatible settings in NVIDIA Control Panel) on Windows 7 x64 Pro.

Kind of annoying bug as there are instances where I can see myself needing to use topology lines as a painting guide.  Any suggestions welcome as I am not sure if this is a known bug.

This is a known bug that has always been there. The fix will have to wait for the next version.

When I import my new UVs onto the mesh everything is fine until I export a normal map. When I export the normal map I have the “preview as Paint Layer” on. Once it is done extracting the preview of the normal map is all screwed up.  Also, when I examine the Normal map it appears to be broken/divided up into little rectangles which causes the normal map to be broken up and not smooth(as it should be).
Like I said I can import my uvs(layed out in 3DsMax) just fine. It’s only when I try to export my maps when things go all wrong.
I attached an image of what is happening....on the left is the viewport error of the normal map being applied. On the right is the ‘blocky’ normal map that’s being generated
Has anyone had this problem?

Hey everyone,

I dont know if anyone else witnessed this or know about this, but for me it seems like my pc works way better with Zbrush, I can go way higher in Polys ( eg like 3 millions) and it wud still be smooth to play and sculpt, but in Mudbox after 300 000 poly its starts to lag, and if I reached a million poly its like impossible to work. Here’s the info of my system

I can’t seem to get Mudbox to output a ptex file on any model that did not originate in Mudbox. So if I export and obj or fbx from Maya and import it into mudbox and sculpt, I can’t output a ptex file. I get the dialog that the extraction was successful but no map is written. Conversely if I create a mesh from the create > mesh command in Mudbox and sculpt on that it outputs with no problem. Has anyone been successful with a ptex workflow from a model that didn’t originate in Mudbox - Is there something that needs to be done to prepare the model.

My setup is

Maya 2011 hotfix2
Mudbox 2011 subscription pack 1
Mac OSX 10.6.4

Thanks!
