I have a favorite software (cheap, but I like it) that I build my base work in then will go from there to finalizing in Mudbox.

That software (Hexagon… don’t laff, now) of course has no rendering engine.

If, for example, someone wanted to get a stand-alone rendering software (is there such a thing) that would be able to handle what comes out of Mudbox, what would be the best choice?

I definitely do not want some bloated animation/modeling package.
(I’ve had ‘em and that’s why I appreciate the simplicity of the dinky one I use for modeling).

Suggestions?

Thanks.
Coincidentally I just downloaded Blender last night so I haven’t had a chance to figure it out yet… it is somewhat of a different animal than I have been used to - - like tryiing to import the obj file. I got as far as locating the obj file but hung up there trying to get it into Blender.

I will figure it out just need a few minutes to work on it. I know this is not a Blender forum, so I will head over there to get the info.

Sounds like I am on the right track.

Thanks for the tip;)

You may also want to look at Sunflow, since it’s very feature-inclusive and open source as well. And it’s updated very frequently with fixes, features, etc. It’s not a full package like Blender (which may suit you more). Just a thought. :)
