what are you looking to do? are you looking for an automated kind of thing? or are you looking to actually sculpt something and send it to be prototyped?

Yes for that kind of work, prototyping and create some 3D art-work in wood using a router.

mudbox is great for organic sculpting and not so great for mechanical objects. although it’s quite possible to make mechanical objects and there are few artists on this site who do.

You should download the trial, it’s good for 30 days and it is a full version of the programs with no restrictions.

One thing I would like to mention is that mudbox only exports to .obj format. If you want to use mudbox with these product you linked to, you will need another program for conversions as it looks like neither of the two programs support .obj.

seems to me that you might be better off using a program like modo
http://www.luxology.com/whatismodo/
which has many more export functions including dxf.
There are also more tools for hard surface modeling as well as some organic modeling features like mudbox. (the organic modeling is not as good is mudbox’s but they are definitely powerful)

You might also want to check Claytools @ http://sensable.com/

@ around 6000 USD price tag is ‘a bit’ high, but it’s a terrific software/hardware combo.
